BACKGROUND:

Hudson Square BID is excited to share plans for a new public plaza at Little Sixth Avenue and Spring Street Park.

Little Sixth was accepted into the NYC DOT Plaza Program, and we have now kicked off the community outreach and design process, with the new plaza expected to open in 2026.

Building on the success of our $6 million renovation of Spring Street Park in 2018, the new plaza will add 6,000 square feet of open space, expanding this lively corner into an even more welcoming pedestrian hub.

Thanks to $744,000 in New York Forward funding through Governor Hochul’s office, we’ll be able to incorporate custom amenities and creative design features that reflect Hudson Square’s vibrant, artistic identity.

Located near the newly constructed C/E subway entrance and surrounded by schools, shops, and offices, this plaza will serve as a flexible public space where residents, workers, and visitors can relax, connect, and enjoy the neighborhood’s creative energy.
